Highland Park 17 Years Old Carn Mor, 46% abv

Mild vanilla notes on the nose. Light smoke with gentle fruit on the palate. A very pleasant dram.

A relatively new peated version the Tomatin line. The peat obviously shows. Honey, coffee, orange peel and pepper with a long smoky finish. At $59 (Alberta), an excellent candidate for the "poor man's Lagavulin.

Octave Cameronbridge 1978 31 Years Old, 53.3% abv

Rich sweet toasted grain notes on the nose. Soft sweet grain, corn and rye?, on the palate. Gentle firm spices on the palate.

Cameronbridge 32 Years Old Rare Auld Duncan Taylor, 48.8% abv

Sweet solvent cereal notes on the nose. Soft rye and bourbon notes on the palate. Lovely sweet finish.

Lagavulin 12 Years Old Special Release 2008, 56.4% abv

Smooth rich smoky vanilla and caramel noted on the nose. Lovely soft tingling bourbon barrel tang - notes of vanilla and caramel emerge from behind the tang. Love it.

Mortlach 21 Years Old Old Malt Cask, 50% abv

Dry vanilla notes on the nose. Fruit notes on the palate. A very pleasant dram.

Linkwood 1987 Berry's Own Selection, 46% abv

Light, grassy with spice notes on the nose. Soft creamy texture in the mouth. Touch of soap on the finish. (Maybe I was having an off sensory appreciation moment here.)
