Dry grassy oranges and fresh almonds on the nose. Soft floral tang on the palate. Edgy wood vanilla finish.

Sugar cane rum notes and hay on the nose. Smooth, round, wee touch of grass on the palate. Soft edginess on the finish. Fair V4$ at $39.

Apples, sweet earthiness and mild varnish on the nose. Soft, round, sweet, gentle herbal/grass/metallic notes on the palate.

Orange fruit and mild spice on the nose. Soft coffee notes, sweet sherry on the palate. Sweet velvety fruit finish.

Fresh tarty fruit on the nose. Heather smoke, sweet honey and brown sugar on the palate.

Highland Park 17 Years Old Carn Mor, 46% abv

Mild vanilla notes on the nose. Light smoke with gentle fruit on the palate. A very pleasant dram.

Tomatin Cu Bocan, 46% abv

A relatively new peated version the Tomatin line. The peat obviously shows. Honey, coffee, orange peel and pepper with a long smoky finish. At $59 (Alberta), an excellent candidate for the "poor man's Lagavulin.

Rich sweet toasted grain notes on the nose. Soft sweet grain, corn and rye?, on the palate. Gentle firm spices on the palate.

Sweet solvent cereal notes on the nose. Soft rye and bourbon notes on the palate. Lovely sweet finish.

Lagavulin 12 Years Old Special Release 2008, 56.4% abv

Smooth rich smoky vanilla and caramel noted on the nose. Lovely soft tingling bourbon barrel tang - notes of vanilla and caramel emerge from behind the tang. Love it.
