70I thought I would start off Scottish Blends Week by tasting Scotland's best selling blended whisky. Vanilla, herbal with a not unpleasant bitterness akin to dandelion greens. A slight acid burn in the finish.

79Sweet old fruit aromas initially then dry solventy notes with incense wafting in and out on the nose. The mouthfeel is a bit rough, like fine sandpaper - but unpleasant, just a bit edgy. A simple dram.

72Black Bull 12 Years Old, 50% abv
Rich almond grassy notes on the nose - in a very powerful in your face kind of way. Mouthfeel is surprising for 50% abv. It has a soft velvety texture with dominant spices, particulalrly ginger towards the end. The finish has an adgy bitterness to it. Not unpleasant mind you. Not surprising it has won so many awards. at 50%, it is in the heavyweight class for sure.
