Writers Tears Pot Still Irish Whiskey, 40% abv
Solventy spring earthiness, dried flowers with some spice on the nose. Dry prunes and a sense of roundness and alpine flowers. A simple dram with a medium to short finish.

77Connemara Cask Strength, 57.9% abv
A bold in-your- face dram that grabs you by the lapels and shouts "I am here!" Notwithstanding its brash loquaciousness ,this a dram is well worth tasting. Its alcohol strength tends to overpower its more subtle qualities unless you add some water (more than I would usually want to add). Hidden by the alcohol are honey notes and bitter orange peel, almost like Grand Marnier without the sweetness. Peat taste is prominent but less so than many of the Islay malts

82Greenore 8 Years Old Single Grain, 40% abv
Aromas of roasted chestnut varnish on the nose. There were hints of ginger and dry almond paste on the palate - not marzipan mind you, which is sweet. This is a light, well balanced and very pleasant dram.

It came as a surprise that an 8 yo single grain could be so good. Light, sweet and fruity.

76Connemara Turf Mor Small Batch Collection, 58.2% abv
Fresh lightly sweet solvent then fruity smoke on the nose. Peat and tar explode then retreat to a gentle softness. Peat dominates the finish, but in a soft velvety manner.
